Maharani's Pendant

Maharani's PendantThe creator of this piece says: "Maharani" means "Queen" in India. I call it a Maharani's pendant because it reminds me of designs worn by the Rajput clan royalty of the olden days from India. I have used 14k gold filled wire to sculpt an 8.20 carat weight of genuine Citrine stone. I have also added a 6mm genuine round Citrine on the bail.

Then I have beaded in fresh water pearls on the side of the pendant to give it that royal touch. I believe that in almost every girl's or woman's heart there lives a princess or queen. This pendant is to celebrate that royalty within each of us.

About the Artist: Swati Nigam

I started making beaded bracelets in 2003 with semi-precious beads. Made many of those and sold. My designs were very simple, but people seemed to like them. That encouraged me to learn more about jewelry making and I started off with wire. I have learned wire jewelry from Preston Reuthor, friends, online tutorials, jewelry forums, Connie Fox, and many other sources. I also started taking metalsmithing classes. It is graet when I can bring together stones, wire, sheet metals, beads and create something that please one's eyes and soul!

What inspires me in my work is spirituality, the Divine that is within us all, and that part of us women that is an eternal royalty.
