Obsidian  Obsidian is a naturally occurring very dark glass that is sometimes called a mineral. Obsidian is produced from erupting volcanoes when the right conditions are present. Obsidian is said to help balance the left and right hemispheres of the brain. Obsidian is found in North America, Italy, Scotland, and other countries. Obsidian was highly valued in ancient times and was often used as points for blades and weapons. More about Obsidian
Ocean Jasper  A type of jasper believed to dissipate negativity and help you recognize and appreciate all of your blessings. Ocean jasper is found in Madagascar, where it is harvested during low tide along the ocean. (photo by mscaprikell)

Onyx  A form of quartz that can come in almost any color. The pure black form is the most famous, especially for beads. Outside of beading, the most common form has the appearance of parallel lines running through the stone in alternating bands. Sardonyx is a banded variety of onyx with shades of red and brown. Much of what is sold as onyx is actually agate that has been stained.
Opal  A semi-transparent irridescent stone composed of silicon and water. Said to enhance natural abilities, stimulate creativity, and inspire realization of inner potential.
