Learning More about Tigertail Jewelry

In books, and websites tigertail necklaces are usually categorized under "Bead Stringing" which includes stringing on beading thread.

Tigertail is pretty easy to use once you get the hang of it, and the best way to learn is just to start making necklaces, bracelets, and anklets. You can get ideas by looking at the jewelry in boutiques and in fashion magazines. Your local jewelry store will also probably have a number of examples on hand, and can help you compose your necklace.

Books

Creative Bead Jewelry There are lots of books with patterns that are suitable for tigertail or soft-flex, but I don't know of any devoted exclusively to tigertail. The first book I learned jewelry making from was called Creative Bead Jewelry, which covers tigertail as well as loomwork, wirework, and polymer clay. It's a good introduction to a number of different beading techniques.

Creative Bead Jewelry Another book that covers a number of techniques and has some good tigertail projects is The Irresistable Bead.

Magazines

Bead & Button Magazine Bead & Button Magazine is put out by Kalmbach Publishing and always has great projects for beaders, including a lot of necklace projects.

I've found this magazine to be one of the best sources of ongoing inspiration--they always have great projects and clear photos and instructions.
