Paper beading came to my attention when I was twelve years old. While rummaging through the old stuff in the attic one day, I came across a paper beaded door curtain from the 60's. The beads were huge and bulky, but I liked the idea and taught myself to make them small for jewelry. I was unaware at the time that there were how-to instruction books on the subject! That was 18 years ago, and I still experiment with new ways to make beads. I started making Fimo clay beads a few years ago, and love it! I am inspired by just about everything, from the kind of jewelry I would want myself, to nature and other interests in life.

I have used my own hand rolled paper beads with glass and Chinese nephrite to create this truly unique and unusual neck adornment! There are two different types of paper beads used: rolled magazine and sponge painted construction paper cylinder beads. Both types are clear coated with glossy polyurethane for added durablity.
