Jade  Jade is actually two different minerals referred to by the same name. It seems that for years two separate minerals were referred to and traded as jade because of their amazing similarities. By the time anyone realized they were dealing with two different gems, it was too late. Today, they are differentiated into jade classes, called jadeite and nephrite. Jade has long been revered by the Chinese, where it is called 'Yu'. It is believed to reduce stress, and prolong life. More about Jade
Jasper  Jasper is a member of the quartz family. Its name comes from Greek "jaspis", a mythical spotted stone found in the head of an adder snake. Jasper is found in many colors and often named for its pattern, e.g. leopard skin jasper. It is one of the oldest known gemstones. Jasper is believed to be a great protective stone, and sometimes called the supreme nurturer. More about Jasper
JigJig  A board with pegs in it that is useful for bending wire into specific shapes that can be replicated. They can be made out of wood, or configurable metal ones can be purchased.
Jump Ring  Used to connect jewelry parts, like attaching a clasp to a necklace. Jump rings are a simple wire loop. To open them, push one end forward and one end back. If you enlarge the circle by prying the ends farther apart you will weaken the metal. Split rings are more secure but bulkier. Buy Jump Rings
