| T-Bar Clasp Another name for a Toggle Clasp. | | | Thread Several fibers spun into a single strand. Beading thread is made of nylon and is used in beadweaving and loomwork. Other types of thread used in beading include decorative cords such as rattail. More about Thread | Tigertail Tigertail is strong, flexible, nylon-covered wire which is used for stringing necklaces. It is stiff so it does not require a needle and it holds its shape. Use with heavier beads and finish with crimp beads. Tigertail has a tendency to kink, which the new, more expensive Soft-flex wire has solved somewhat. Soft-flex incorporates more strands into it's construction, and is therefore more flexible and less prone to kinking. Buy Tigertail | | Titanium A lightweight, silver to gray colored metal that is corrosion resistant and very strong. Titanium's compounds are particularly valuable in the making of fine jewelry: pure crystalline titanium dioxide (titania) is used as a gemstone. Titanium dioxide is also responsible for the star effect in certain sapphires and rubies. Titanium is a reactive metal, which has a unique property of taking on color when exposed to electricity or heat. This makes titanium available in a number of colors ranging from various shades of browns, blues, oranges, purples and greens. These colors are very durable and will not scratch off with a fingernail or will not fade with exposure to sunlight or solvents. For this reason, titanium is widely used in beaded jewelry designed for use in body piercing. | | Toggle Clasp A type of clasp consisting of a bar which fits into a loop, on the same principle as a button. Good for thicker necklaces. This clasp can also be used to make a necklace that clasps in the front. The clasp is a decorative part of the necklace which is then much easier to put on and remove. This hard stone is often used in jewelry and is strongly associated with the astrological sign Sagittarius. Topaz is believed to increase a person's strength and improve their eyesight. More about Topaz | Troy Ounce 1 troy oz = 1.097 oz. This unit of weight is traditionally used for gemstones and precious metals. Dates from the medieval period. | | True Cut Beads See charlotte beads. | | |
