I started out with the fabulous crystal agate druzy. To get together an interesting mix of complimenting gemstones, I chose different shapes, sizes, colors and textures of Prehnite, amethyst, garnet, apatite, citrine and peridot.
The ‘backplate’ is a round shaped grid which offers options to fix the gemstones anywhere you like and is also solid enough to keep the shape.
I attached all gemstones with 26 gauge solid brass wire, making sure that the wire is always pulled tightly and wrapped around the grid a couple of times between gemstones/gemstone groups.
For a bail I just added 2 larger, 18g jumprings. My chain suggestion is a 3.2mm solid brass ball chain. I wouldn’t choose anything much thinner to keep the proportions as well as to support the weight of the pendant.
