I made this necklace and bracelet set for my mother — gold is her favorite color.
I wanted to make her something I knew she would really like, and as soon as I saw the heart-shaped glass beads with accents of gold and brown, I was totally inspired.
I used gold colored beading wire and combined larger round gold colored glass beads with smaller gold and brown beads and added faux pearls which softened the set with a femininity that always reminds me of my mother.
I played around with a two strand ‘floating’ design for the necklace, alternating between one bead on one strand, one bead on another strand and one bead on two strands. The beads move on the strands, but gold crimp beads are placed in various spots throughout the necklace and act as a sort of border, so the moving beads won’t move past a certain point. I finished with a gold colored toggle clasp.
